The festivals first edition (2009) will coincide with the Geo Park convention, to be held in Idanha-a-Nova the 14th to the 16th September 2009, and will focus on a theme that is in line with the festivalīs paradigm - the conservation of our worldīs natural heritage - and, more specifically, GeoParks in Europe and around the world.

The opening documentary will be the presentation film of Portugalīs national GeoPark Naturtejo. All other Geo Parks taking part in the 2009 Geo Park convention will have been previously invited to exhibit a film/documentary about their regionīs Geo Park or a subject related to it.
This section is entirely dedicated to those Geo Parks attending the Geo Park Convention that accepted our challenge to exhibit their film at IFIF.
These documentaries will have prime time viewing and will be projected on prehistoric rocks with 600.000 million years and ancient monuments that are real gems of Portugalīs historical and cultural heritage.
